Kia Soul Compared to the Kia Seltos

Kia is well known for making utility vehicles such as SUV’s and MPV’s, with vehicles such as these two and the Sorento. One of Korea’s oldest automobile manufacturers, Kia Motors is now a well-known brand across the world. Through the medium of this write-up, we will compare the 2021 Kia Soul with the 2021 Kia Seltos.

Engine and Performance:

Both the Soul and the Seltos get a 2.0 liter Dual Overhead Cam MPFi engine. Intelligent Variable Transmissions (IVTs) are standard on both vehicles too and have been working successfully since a couple of years. 147 hp of power is standard on both cars. The major difference is in terms of the way that torque is distributed in the two vehicles, with the Seltos being an AWD.

There is substantial difference in the Soul and the Seltos at the rear. The Soul has a high design which makes it like a van. On the other hand, the Seltos has a well-rounded rear, and comes with a great amount of space.

Expect the Soul to deliver a fuel economy that is marginally better than the Seltos. All Wheel Drive (AWD) is available only on the Seltos.

Exterior Appearance:

The 2021 Kia Soul looks boring from the front as opposed to the Seltos. In fact, the placement of the front grille seems to have made a lot of difference to the front appearances of these two cars. The 2021 Kia Seltos is a completely new model in the US.  On the Seltos, there are turn signals and high beams above the regular headlights. The practicality of the Soul, when put into a larger package, leads to the Seltos.

Kia Soul got a completely new look for 2020. Higher end trims get LED headlights. Design is not as well rounded as the Seltos, though it has its loyal set of followers. Ground clearance in the Seltos is just a little more than the Soul.

Interior Appearance:

Space at the end of the last row of seats in the 2021 Kia Seltos is very generous, and this is more than the Soul. Both the vehicles are available with spare tires in their boots. The Soul is clearly a better vehicle for a tall passenger since it provides more headroom than the Seltos. A lot of room is available in the Seltos, slightly more than the Soul. Each of the Kia vehicles are known for space, and these two are no exceptions.

A 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are available on both vehicles. Two 12V charging points are available below the infotainment system. Two drive models are available, which are Normal and Sport. Placement of buttons on the steering wheel are simple, and do not unnecessarily decrease surface area.

When compared to the Soul, the infotainment system on the Seltos is in tablet style. However, there are chances of sunlight reflecting off it and causing glares. Storage space on the Seltos is more at the front than the Soul.

Safety Features:

Buyers of the 2021 Kia Seltos LX will not get Active Safety Features, which include Blind Spot, Automatic Emergency Braking, and Lane Keeping Assist. On the other hand, the S trim in the 2021 Kia Soul has these features, along with Lane Departure Warning and a few other safety features as well.
